Frequently Asked Questions

Please review the frequently asked questions below. If you do not find the answer to your question, feel free to contact our patient coordinator via email at staff@willowbendhealthandwellness.com or set up a FREE discovery call.

Payment Methods

Willowbend Health & Wellness accepts all credit cards, cash, and check payments. If you have an HSA/FSA card from your insurance company, we can use that as well. We are able to assist you with setting up a Care Credit account, if needed. In some cases, there may be an opportunity to purchase a monthly membership for some of our services. Please ask the patient coordinator for further information about these programs.

 Insurance

We do not accept insurance at this office, but we do accept HSA/FSA cards, Care Credit, and any other standard form of payment.

Can you help me with my health problem?

If you suffer from a chronic medical condition, are frequently ill, tired or in chronic pain, or if you simply seek to optimize your health, we may be able to help you. If you feel you are taking too many prescription drugs, want a more natural approach or wonder which supplements are right for you, we can help. Our providers are well trained in most areas of traditional and functional medicine.

Is Dr. Gee a primary care provider?

Dr. Gee does not function as primary care provider as defined in the typical insurance model.  However, she does participate in a health sharing network of providers that offer a wide range of services to meet some of these needs. Ask our patient coordinators for information about this program.  They will work with you closely to support your preventive, nutritional and functional medicine needs. They also will confer with your primary care or specialist physician if necessary.

Do your providers prescribe medicines?

Dr. Gee and Christy DeCaro FNP are fully licensed and certified medical providers and they are able to prescribe any medications that they feel are indicated.

What about laboratory testing?

Some testing is usually indicated and can be done through conventional laboratories, while other tests are only available through specialty laboratories. You will be able to utilize your insurance for many of these tests but often we find that our cash pricing may be a more cost-effective option.  After your initial Heath Journey assessment your provider will determine what testing is indicated and it will be ordered. Our patient care coordinator will counsel you about costs and procedures for the testing.

Some testing can be performed at home with test kits to collect urine, saliva or stool. Others may require a blood draw. In all cases, we will assist you in coordinating initial and follow-up testing.

Do I need to see the health coach at your office?

Yes, we require that all patients maintain contact with our health coach after the initial Health Journey Call and between every follow-up visit. We find that considerable changes may need to be made to the diets and lifestyles of patients suffering from chronic illness in order to achieve patient health goals. Our health coach is instrumental in helping patients manage and understand dietary and lifestyle changes that are prescribed by our providers, and, also access other resources to facilitate your healing journey.

Do you take health insurance?

Willowbend Health & Wellness operates as a self-pay clinic. Our office does not bill your insurance directly, but we will provide you with a coded receipt for services, which you may submit for reimbursement to your insurance carrier.

Why do you not accept/bill insurance?

Reimbursement rules for health insurance companies often do not allow coverage for Functional and Integrative care. Some plans do offer wellness benefits which may apply. You should check with your carrier about the availability for these services. Also, most of our services are covered under your HSA or FSA health plan benefits.  If you would like to submit your charges for insurance reimbursement, we will be happy to provide you with the needed information to do so.

Do you sell nutritional supplements?

We often recommend nutritional supplements to patients in conjunction with lifestyle and dietary modification. In some cases, nutritional supplements can be used in place of more toxic prescription medications. We rely on scientifically based studies to guide our therapeutic decisions regarding nutritional supplementation. We have researched high-quality nutritional products and will refer you in most cases to an online dispensary for ease of purchase. We stock very few supplements in office.
